“Bangladesh has evolved into a key market for us in the past few years,” comments Alexander Stöckler, Senior Vice President, Head of Global Sales at MAN Diesel & Turbo. “The Bangladesh government has introduced a state action plan to improve the country’s energy situation, which it is pursuing decisively. Our high efficiency engines offer an ideal performance profile for the project at hand, which is an endorsement of the success of the recently completed power stations in Nababganj and Manikganj.”
The two identically constructed installations, which are also operating as baseload power stations, are situated close to Dhaka and are supplementing the energy supply to the rapidly growing metropolitan area and its 17 million inhabitants. The engines were delivered to Doreen Power in June and August 2016. A 58 MW power station, which was completed in June 2016 for Desh Energy and a 108 MW power plant, which was completed in July for Maisha Group, also supply energy to the region around the capital city.
The MAN 18V48/60TS engine runs on heavy fuel oil and achieves particularly high energy density and high efficiencies due to its two-stage turbocharger.
